This year's application campaign for the Telerik Software Academy has finished. More than 430 people applied for free training in one of the most prestigious professions in the world - that of the software engineer. For the third year running, Telerik will offer jobs to the best participants in the Academy. Here I will try to give a short summary of the application campaign in numbers.
Statistics from the Academy application campaign
- Out of all 431 candidates, 303 are starting in the Academy. 34 of them were admitted without entrance exams, thanks to excellent results at olympiads or because they were champions of other courses of ours. Several of the participants are current Telerik employees who do not work with C# but want to improve their computer skills.
- Most of the candidates are students at Sofia University, the Technical University, New Bulgarian University, UACEG, the University of Mining and Geology, UNWE, Plovdiv University, ULSIT and others.
- The participants taking their first steps in programming with us are mostly young. The average year of birth of the candidates is 1986.76 (average age 24-25), and the average for those actually starting in the Academy is 1987.25 (average age 23-24).
- The easiest of all the tests was the English one. It asked participants to pick the most correct option among several English words and prepositions. The highest scores on the English test were:
- Maya - 62 out of 62
- Radoslav - 61 out of 62
- Mehmed - 61 out of 62
- Highest score on the English test - 62; lowest - 14. Average score: 42.7616 correct answers out of 62 questions.
- This year the IQ test was made significantly harder, so that we could identify the candidates who really do grasp and learn things quickly. It contained questions requiring inference, questions about spatial thinking, a lot of mathematics and more. The highest scores on the IQ test were:
- Martin - 31 out of 35
- Dimitar - 31 out of 35
- Nikolay - 31 out of 35
- Ivica - 31 out of 35
- Borislav - 31 out of 35
- Highest score on the IQ test - 31; lowest - 5. Average score: 21.5552 correct answers out of 35 questions.
- The test on computer science and information technology was not easy either. It consisted mostly of inference questions, but there were also questions requiring real knowledge of computers and programming. The highest scores on it were:
- Orlin - 31 out of 35
- Vladimir - 30 out of 35
- Lachezar - 30 out of 35
- Highest score on the IT test - 31; lowest - 6. Average score: 18.8459 correct answers out of 35 questions.
